Dried fruit is a fruit that has been dried, either naturally or artificially by a machine, such as a dehydrator. A good dried fruit has a long shelf life and therefore it can be used as a good alternate to fresh fruit, which allows out of the season fruits to be available. Drying is a very well-known way to preserve fruit when there is no refrigerator. Dried fruit is mostly used in baking mixes, breakfast cereals and making cake.


Black Pepper

Dried black peppercorn and its powdered form is extensively used for seasoning in Indian cuisine, especially south Indian cuisine. Once ground, pepper's aromatics can evaporate quickly and therefore, grinding whole peppercorns immediately before use is recommended.



Caraway

Caraway seed, which comes from an herb in the parsley family, is commonly found in German, Austrian and Hungarian cuisine. It also has medicinal use for the loss of appetite and digestive disorders.



Cloves

Cloves can be used in cooking either whole or in a ground form, but as they are extremely strong, they are used sparingly. It is normally added whole to enhance the presentation and flavor of the rice. It is also used in most Indian meat preparations.



Coriander

also commonly called cilantro in North America. The fresh leaves and the dried seeds are the most commonly used in cooking. Dried coriander seeds are warm, nutty, spicy, and orange-flavored.



Cumin Seeds

Cumin seeds are used as a spice for their distinctive aroma. They have a distinctive bitter flavor and strong, warm aroma due to their abundant essential oil content. It is used as an ingredient of curry powder.



Fennel Seeds

Fennel seeds are an excellent super-herb that has been used for centuries for both culinary and medicinal purposes. Fennel is grown extensively across the planet but is native to Europe, The Middle-Eastern, China, India, and Turkey.



Fenugreek

Fenugreek, is an herb that is commonly found growing in the Mediterranean regions of southern Europe and Asia. Fenugreek is an amazing magic herb that can cure number of ailments. Indian Ayurvedic and traditional Chinese medicine recommend fenugreek to treat arthritis, asthma, bronchitis, improve digestion, maintain a healthy metabolism, treat sore throat, to treat hormonal disorders, helps lower blood glucose and cholesterol levels.

The scientific name for sesame seeds is Sesamun indicum. They are a rich source of vitamin B6, fiber, protein and many minerals like calcium, copper, iron, and zinc.



Cardamom

Green cardamom is often used in traditional Indian sweets and in tea, or chai. Cardamom has a strong, unique taste, with an intensely aromatic fragrance. It is a common ingredient in Indian cooking. One of the most expensive spices by weight. Cardamom is best stored in pod form, because once the seeds are exposed or ground, they quickly lose their flavor.
